Google Pixel 7 Pro Review

Introduction

The Pixel 7 Pro Android smartphones were developed, produced, and promoted by Google as a part of the Google Pixel product range. It resembles the Pixel 6 series in terms of appearance and utilizes a Google Tensor processor of the second generation. It already had Android 13 installed.

Google Pixel 7 Pro Review

The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro were formally introduced on October 6, 2022, at the annual 'Made by Google' event. The gadgets went on sale in the US on October 13.

Display

A 6.70-inch, 120Hz, LTPO AMOLED screen with a brightness of 1500 nits and a resolution of 1440 x 3120 pixels is included with the Pixel 7 Pro.

The device's 1500 nits brightness is helpful outside use; you won't experience any problems reading text or performing other work in the sun. Additionally, the absence of a symmetrical bezel on the handset is surprising, given that it costs Rs. 84,999 for a smartphone. Google has added new features on top of the Pixel 6 Pro design. Google has now increased the refresh rate on the Pro variant from 90Hz to 120Hz to distinguish it from the Pixel 7. The front and back of the Pixel 7 Pro are composed of Gorilla Glass Victus, while the frame is aluminum. Google should have chosen a matt surface instead of the glossy one on the back, which could be more attractive.

Google has incorporated an optical fingerprint sensor, which reduces costs because smartphones with ultra-sonic fingerprint sensors cost around Rs. 80,000. Again, the optical fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 7 Pro is not awful, but compared to a Rs. 20000 smartphone, it feels slow. The Pixel 7 Pro has a beautiful display, but its bezels don't look all that fantastic, and a slow pace fingerprint sensor is unacceptable for a device that costs Rs 84,999.

Performance

The new Google Tenser G2 has AI capabilities built into the default camera app that can capture cinematic video and much more that you won't find on any other Android smartphone anytime soon. You also have the option to use the excellent unblur function, which uses the new Tenser G2 chipset to unblur older photographs effectively. Other Android manufacturers will find a solution somehow, even if this capability is only available on the Pixel.

The Pixel 7 Pro features 22 5G bands in total, including n1, n2, n3, n5, n7, n8, n12, n14, n20, n25, n28, n30, n38, n40, n41, n48, n66, n71, n75, n76, n77, and n78. Because Samsung manufactures the new G2 chip, we don't anticipate it to perform as well as Snapdragon 8+ gen 1, but it will still be enough for general use and light gaming.

In summary, this is not designed for intense gaming but works well for social networking, movie viewing, and occasionally playing games. Only buy this gadget if you want to play games since you will be satisfied. Running Android 13, the Pixel 7 Pro will receive three OS upgrades and five years of security patches. Some Pixel 7 Pro customers have complained that their devices become heated when using them outside or playing games for an hour. The Google Tenser G2 is a good processor for average users; it is not designed for individuals requiring much power.

Cameras

The only difference between the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro's image quality is that the Pro version has more telephoto. The Pixel 7 Pro has a 50MP primary sensor, a 48MP telephoto lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10.8MP selfie camera on the front. It also has a 5x optical zoom with OIS. The front and back cameras can record movies in 480@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60fps.

There is no denying that the Pixel captures the most outstanding pictures, and when it comes to AI, nobody can match Google. However, there is a problem. When taking pictures of people indoors, it is only sometimes excellent, and the sensors strongly apply shadow to the subject. In some instances, neither the armpits nor the beard hair is blurred. Now, this is a software problem that can be resolved with upgrades rather than a hardware one.

Of course, you will get more natural colors with sunlight or when there is adequate light, but the same doesn't continue under low light. When the smartphone camera is ranked higher, it introduces extra noise, which could be better. In conclusion, the Pixel 7 Pro's camera could be more flawless; it has certain flaws.

Comparing the Pixel 7 to the Pixel 7 Pro, the Pixel 7 offers better value for the money. The 48MP telephoto lens does its job; up to a 5x magnification, you will obtain nearly natural photographs, and even at a 15x magnification, you will obtain usable images. Furthermore, there is only a reason to spend an additional Rs 25,000 on a telescopic lens if you are wealthy and unconcerned with the cost. The 12MP Ultra-wide is also fantastic; it's a pixel camera so that you won't get blurry photos. Google uses all of its available software capabilities to create visually appealing photos. Even though the front camera only has a 10.8MP sensor, the software is trustworthy, so you can still get good selfies.

One more thing: If you're not into photography and are looking for the best smartphone for videos, the Pixel 7 Pro is not the best compared to iPhones. The iPhone is always preferred above any Android smartphone for watching videos, while the Pixel is better for taking pictures.

From the back to the front camera, the Pixel 7 Pro has superb cameras, but the Pixel 7 is also available for Rs. 50000, so it makes more sense to get the Pixel 7 instead of the 7 Pro. However, get a Pixel 7 Pro if you desire a Telephoto lens.

Audio

The speakers are of excellent quality; the bass is there and provides clear sound. Three microphones are on the phone, and Google has added algorithms to improve call quality. So sure, the Pixel 7 Pro would be a fantastic smartphone to consider if you make many calls daily. Nevertheless, it supports carrier grouping, which will be helpful if the smartphone isn't receiving adequate single. Overall, the speakers and call quality are both excellent.

Battery

The Pixel 7 Pro has a 4,926mAh battery that supports 30W wired and 23W wireless charging. No, the charger is not included in the package; you must purchase it separately or use a charger already in your home. The 23W charger will charge from 0% to 50% in 30 minutes. Even if the battery is relatively tiny, it will still provide roughly a day's worth of usage, but if you're a heavy user, you'll need to charge the Pixel 7 Pro between 4 and 6 PM.

That stated the battery life varies from user to user. In other words, you need to use a smartphone to know how long a logger battery will last, but a rough number has been given for your preference.

Advantages of Google Pixel 7 Pro

  • A good viewing experience is provided by the big, bright, and immersive 6.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, which has a high resolution and 512PPI density.
  • It is excellent for smooth multitasking with powerful 12GB RAM. The 512GB internal memory provides a lot of storage capacity.
  • The Gorilla Glass Victus screen protection and IP68 rating make it water and dust resistant, allowing for all-weather use.
  • A beautiful triple primary HDR camera with 50MP, 48MP, and 12MP resolutions, twin LED flash, and AI produces HD images and 4K movies even at night.
  • The most recent Android 13 OS provides a lag-free multitasking and gaming experience, and its effective Google Tensor G2 (5 nm) Octa-Core (2.85 GHz Cortex-X1 & 2.35 GHz Cortex-A78 & 4.180 GHz Cortex-A55) processor.
  • It provides a 5000mAh battery with wireless charging and 23W fast reverse charging.
  • For rapid and safe access, an in-display optical fingerprint sensor is used.

Disadvantages of Google Pixel 7 Pro

  • There is no FM radio.
  • There is no infrared connection available.
  • It provides a mediocre selfie camera at that price which is not worth it.
  • The significant drawbacks of this Google Pixel Series mobile phone include non-expandable memory and non-removable battery.

Summary

The Google Pixel 7 Pro is unquestionably costly for the starting price of Rs 84,999 in India. Despite the smartphone being priced reasonably, Google's newest flagship provides more than initially meets the eye. The phone's 'fast-charging' rates are one thing that can't be supported; at this price, 23W is just unacceptable. Additionally, the phone gets pretty warm even though it is a quick gadget and can keep up with a person's daily activities. Not to mention that the phone isn't the quickest in its class, so you'll get more for your money by choosing a density 9000 or Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1-powered device. Whatever the case, the Pixel 7 Pro is attractive and will draw attention from all angles. The fact that the phone is IP68-rated and coated with Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus also helps. The smartphone's screen is gorgeous, and the triple camera arrangement will make you return for more. The cherry on top is that the phone will receive five years of security upgrades. The Pixel 7 Pro is not your standard Android flagship, and rather than relying on its technical ability, the device aims to provide an exceptional user experience. There is no questioning that the Pixel 7 Pro is a trustworthy flagship that does most things right, even though there is still much space for development.
