Oppo Reno7 Pro 5G Review

Introduction

In the world of smartphones, the Rs. 40,000 price range causes some discomfort to buyers. It is unquestionably more expensive than the inexpensive and even mid-range options, but it isn't quite as expensive as the real flagships.

Oppo Reno7 Pro 5G Review

The options at this price point are likewise relatively diverse. There are smartphones with previous-generation flagship processors, smartphones with slightly older processors but still capable of capturing images of a high caliber, and then there is the Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G, the smartphone which retails for Rs 39,999.

Hardware

This gadget is quite cool. The Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G comes in stunning "Startrails blue" coloring with a dazzling blue-pink glass back, following the iPhone-led trend of flat sides. By today's standards, the phone is fairly light and compact, and it feels wonderful in the hand.

The flat sides make the phone feel larger than it is when you're trying to reach across the screen with your thumb, making them less than ideal for one-handed use even though they're perfect for two-handed use.

The front has a 6.55" AMOLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5. However, the Panda Glass on the back is a little less comforting (no offense intended to pandas). Even if the specs are a step below flagship level, the display feels almost flagship quality. The HDR videos look fantastic, the colors are vibrant, and the 90Hz refresh rate is quick and fluid. Although it falls short of the industry norm of 120Hz, many people don't notice the difference, and it is not a deal-breaker. Even though the outside visibility is not the finest in its class, one can use it for the majority of jobs even if they don't like viewing films outside in the heat. Although adjusting the temperature slider in the options didn't seem to make much of a difference, the color temperature is somewhat on the cooler side.

For the selfie camera, there is a corner punch-hole on top. The two practical cameras (as well as the useless macro camera) are housed in a beautiful camera bump on the back. If you're into that sort of thing, the party trick on this phone is that the edges of the camera bump glow like a notification light.

The Mediatek Dimensity 1200 Max processor found within the Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G appears to have the same core arrangement and clock speeds as the ordinary Dimensity 1200, but with some AI functions added. Additionally, there are 256 GB of storage and a substantial 12 GB of RAM.

Even though there are stereo speakers, there is regrettably no headphone jack, which is a premium feature that a phone costing Rs 40,000 can hardly afford. Therefore, the Poco X3 Pro's speakers are also reasonably loud and spacious. The smartphone has a reliable 4,500 mAh battery and a 65W charger. The fingerprint sensor is an optical unit located under the display and, as usual, is not quite as quick as capacitive ones.

In use

As of the time of writing, the Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G is running ColorOS 12 on Android 11 and has the February 2022 security patch installed. Like its BBK stablemate Funtouch OS, ColorOS is an excellent, slick Android skin but lacks the aesthetic appeal and cohesion of standard Android. There are many pre-installed apps, but you can remove the majority of them. Overall, the OS functions flawlessly and doesn't provide any surprises. As long as you don't anticipate flawless flagship-level performance, the phone is quick and fluid.

The UI is clean and consistent throughout, and apps load instantly without any glaring lags or stutters. You could probably be excused for thinking you were using a flagship phone most of the time while using this phone because it does most things very well. This is also a testament to how effective Android has become over time and how well Oppo has optimized its version of it to work with this chipset.

Features that Stand Out

The stereo speakers are more than sufficient for watching something in a quiet room by yourself, but you will need to use a Bluetooth headset if you want more. Watching TV shows and films is enjoyable, and the AMOLED display delivers the colors and contrast that you expect.

The Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G has good battery life. Most users can get one and a half days out of this phone, and if users charge it regularly at night, there won't be many times when they'd go through the battery in a single day. Users can easily anticipate spending more than six hours in front of a screen. And when it's time to top up, the 65W charger makes sure one can charge the entire gadget in under an hour or receive a sizable top-off in just 15 minutes.

Conclusion

To sum it up, even though the device is not on the flagship level but still, it's a great pick if someone has enough budget in their hands and is looking for a device that works smoothly and quickly. The screen, display, camera, battery, and everything adds up to why this phone can prove as a good choice for a user looking for a nice phone for regular use.
